The Big Tree Hike

Duke Farms is proud to host some of the largest and most magnificent trees in the state. The few that have been officially recognized by the NJ Forest Service as “Big Trees” are an especially important part of the local heritage that belongs to all who share an ecosystem with them. On this 4-mile loop , we’ll pay a visit to these Big Trees and take the opportunity to discuss the cultural value, ecological impact, and enduring teachings that come only from the oldest and most massive of trees.

Program Guidelines

Registration is required. Please let us know if you are no longer able to attend so your space can be offered to someone else. Cancellations received at least 48 hours in advance are eligible for a refund, if applicable. Programs at Duke Farms are RAIN or SHINE, but in the event of severe weather, classes may be canceled. Email notice will be given as early as possible via email and refunds will be issued in the case of cancellations.

What to Expect

Participants can expect to be outside for the entire duration of the class, walking about 4 miles on both paved and mixed trails with no significant grade. Please dress for the weather and bring water or snacks as needed.
