the Birding Platform at Duke Farms

Experience conservation up close

A short walk to the east of the Farm Barn Orientation Center, the birding platform is built atop a stone well house that was once used for irrigation.  This site now offers visitors a stunning view of the restored wetlands and grasslands that are teeming with birds.  Within the grasslands, visitors have a chance to see threatened and endangered species of birds now thriving in these restored habitats.

Duke Farms is renowned as a birding hotspot, offering diverse habitats that attract a wide array of bird species. While specific birding platforms are not explicitly mentioned in the available sources, the estate's extensive trail system provides ample opportunities for bird enthusiasts to observe and study avian life.

The Merlin Bird ID app is a digital field guide that will help you identify the birds you encounter from the Birding Platform.

Where to Find the Birding Platform at Duke Farms

Situated along our grassland trails that extend beyond the Farm Barn Orientation Center, the Birding Platform is a short walk down the gravel trail.
